Glanmire intermediate footballers drew with Senior outfit Clonakilty in a challenge in the Pike yesterday evening. Glanmire, without the services of Daniel Molden and James Murphy impressed throughout. Glanmire got off to a good start with, Chris Cummins, making his first start of the year, firing in two goals from left corner forward. Points from Kieran Keneally and Alan Barry helped Glanmire to an encouraging draw against the 2009 County Senior Football Champions.

The Intermediate team were in action in 2 games this week. On Thursday night Mayfield were the opponents in Sallybrook, the challenge match ended 2-14 to 1-13 in favour of our opponents. On Saturday morning, Glanmire played Youghal in a league match in glorious conditions in Copper Alley. The match ended in favour of Youghal on the scoreline of 3-11 to 0-11, again proving the cliche “goals win games” to be true. Glanmire Intermediates made it 2 wins from2 last night against senior opposition with a 3-13 to 0-11 win over St. Nicholas in the Glen field. Both teams were again short a number of players but Glanmire made the most of their chances with players such as James Murphy, Martin Connolly, Damien O’Regan and Mark Hopkins performing ably.
