Intermediates get off to a winning start.
Tom Creedon Cup: Glanmire 2 – 7 vs Glanworth 0 – 12 The Intermediate team resumed where they left off in 2011 with an encouraging win against Glanworth. After a poor start they improved as the game went on and goals by Martin Connolly and Chris Cummins set-up a Round 2 clash with Cill na Martra next Saturday in Buckleary’s cross @ 3pm.

The annual Glanmire GAA awards night will take place on Thursday 17th November in BK2 at 7pm. The night will kick off with a 3 course meal followed by the awards ceremony. The Glanmire Intermediate team will play Ballydesmond this Sunday 23rd October in Mallow at 12 noon where the 2011 Div. 4 title will be up for grabs. With both teams promoted to Division 3, this Sunday’s encounter offers the chance of some silverware after a long season. Glanmire finished top of the standings in the league with 10 wins from 12 games and will hope to improve on that by ending a 25 year wait for a trophy at adult level. Please support your local team this Sunday in their last game of the 2011 season.

PAUL MOYLAN provided the inspiration as Youghal saw off the challenge of fellow east Cork side Glanmire in a disappointing county IFC fourth round tie at Rostellan on Saturday night. Operating at left-corner forward, Moylan bagged 2-3 to put his side into the last eight, where they await the winners of the Killavullen, Cill na Martra and Kinsale triangle. Glanmire intermediate footballers drew with Senior outfit Clonakilty in a challenge in the Pike yesterday evening. Glanmire, without the services of Daniel Molden and James Murphy impressed throughout. Glanmire got off to a good start with, Chris Cummins, making his first start of the year, firing in two goals from left corner forward. Points from Kieran Keneally and Alan Barry helped Glanmire to an encouraging draw against the 2009 County Senior Football Champions.
