Defibrillator installed at Clubhouse

With the sudden influx of heart problems for sports stars making international news, Glanmire GAA club have installed a defibrillator at the clubhouse in Sallybrook. This critical installation comes in the wake of the latest major heart scare for a professional athlete, that of Fabrice Muamba of Bolton Wanderers. A defibrillator is now seen as a vital tool in trying to revive players who experience episodes of sudden heart attack or cardiac arrest. Glanmire have tough assignments this week in both the adult and juvenile sections. Our Junior footballers face defending champions Glenbower Rovers in the first round of the East Cork Junior Football Championship this Friday night 30th March in Castlemartyr. Throw in is at 6.30pm. Glanmire U14 footballers defeated St Finbarrs this afternoon in the Feile Peil A game in Riverstown. A slow start allowed The Barrs to take a 2 point lead but a penalty after 10 minutes gave Glanmire hope. Glanmire went in at half time 2 points up after a 2nd goal midway through the 2nd half. Cooney challenges Glanmire GAA to deliver on ‘remarkable’ plan.

GAA President Mr. Christy Cooney launched what he called a ‘remarkable’ strategic plan on Tuesday night in Sallybrook for Glanmire GAA club. Mr. Cooney commended the club for the amount of effort it’s members had gone to in producing such a comprehensive and detailed vision for the club for the next five years.
