It may come as a surprise to many people, but “The Pike Field”, as it has become known as locally in recent times, is not actually the official title of our club grounds at Sallybrook.

In 1991, back when our current club facilities could only be dreamed of, The Pike Field was purchased by the then committee chaired by our late Club President, Michael O’Leary (RIP) for a cost of £60,000. It was at this time, that the committee decided to name the pitch “Paddy Duggan Memorial Park” after Paddy Duggan, who was a diligent and long serving officer of Glanmire GAA, and described as “an Institution in the area”. It is fitting that his contribution is recognised with our main pitches carrying his name.

Below is a newspaper clipping of the official launch of Paddy Duggan Memorial Park, with more details of the launch itself. Paddy’s memory will be very well preserved with the grounds at Sallybrook.
