Glanmire Open League Campaign with Emphatic win

The Intermediate panel got their 2017 campaign off to the best possible start as they accounted for the challenge of Millstreet on a scoreline of 2-16 to 2-4.

Despite enjoying the majority of the possession in the first half, Glanmire foiund themselves behind at half time, as the visitors lead by 1-4 to 0-4. At this early stage of the season, one could forgive a team for rustiness as accuracy and decision making wasnt as focused as it would be come championship, as Glanmire missed a number of goal and point opportunities that would have changed the half time score.

The second half was a different affair however, as Glanmire’s work rate and intensity increased immensely, and together with the introduction of minor sharpshooter James Murphy, Glanmire would only conced 1 more goal for the remainder of the match. Some excellent point taking from Murphy, as well as Killian Burke and Kieran Kenneally, ensured that the Home side would never be caught, and well taken goals from Ger O’Callaghan and Timmy Leahy put a deserved marker on the scoreline.

Next up is Youghal next Sunday in Round 2 of league, hopefully the lads will make it 2 from 2.
