Ballincollig 2-7 Glanmire 2-6

After playing against the breeze in the first half and giving Ballincollig a 2-7 -0-0 lead early in the second half, our U-14s bravely fought back to level the game with minutes to go. However, it wasn’t to be their night and Ballincollig got the decisive score. Well done to this outstanding team, Manager Paul Kingston and coaches John O’Connor, Tom O’Connor and Drew long for their work so far this year. Beidh la eile agaibh!

Glanmire and Ballincollig clashed tonight in the Feile Final Replay. The game took place in Mahon, in St.Michaels GAA grounds. Nathan Wall from Carrigaline was referee. Ballincollig were first off the mark with a shot on the 21 raising the green flag. Aided by a strong wind going from goal to goal, Ballincollig built up a lead of 1-7 to no score at the break.

Ballincollig started the second half like the first half and within minutes of the restart had the ball in the back of the net. Glanmire now had a huge hill to climb, they slowly started their come back. They battled back. 15mins in to the second half just two points stood between

he teams. Both teams were throwing everything in to their attack. At 25mins, sides were level…. Extra time was on the cards…. However, Ballincollig had a different agenda and pushed forward to gain a slider one point lead.

As full time was approaching, Ballincollig won a penalty; Glanmire’s keeper kept his nerve and stood up and guessed correctly, to save the penalty.

Glanmire tried for one more attack, but time was not on their side. Full Time Score Ballincollig 2-7 to Glanmire 2-6. Balllincollig will now move on to Laois to represent Cork at the All-Ireland stage.

Glanmire U/8′s Ladies played in an exhibition game at half time during the Cork Vs Laois Ladies National Football League game. 42 girls took to the pitch and everybody had great fun. Special thanks to Fermoy for their kind invitation.

Intermediate Championship Begins…

This Saturday night at 7pm in Rathcormac sees Glanmire begin another Intermediate championship campaign. Kildorrery are the opponents to Ed Harnett’s men in this first round encounter which promises to be a cracker.

Having secured a league title at the end of last year Glanmire will be hoping to build on that success with a solid start to the 2012 Championship season.

Big performances will be expected from Michael Cussen, Daniel Molden, Bryan Murphy and Brendan O’Connell while it is expected that a number of the Glanmire side will make their Intermediate Championship debuts.

Please support your local team tomorrow night for what is hoped will be the first of many championship outings this season.

Venue has been confirmed : The Final will be played at St Michael’s Football Grounds, Estuary Rd, Mahon

Directions:

Take Mahon exit from the tunnel.

Keep on on road passing Mahon point until you come to Skehard Road T junction and then take a right.

Keep on on road until you come to T junction and then take a right.

Grounds is 100 m (on left)

U7′s have their first outing of the season in Carrigaline.

Braving the elements and despite being short of a few regulars, the Glanmire U7s battled all the way to the end against Carrigaline on Sunday 22nd of April.
